The standard procedure usually takes about 12 to 13 months. An accelerated procedure may take about 1.5 to 2 months if all available stages are accelerated and official fees are paid promptly.

Which authority handles trademark registration in Belarus?

Trademark applications are filed with the National Center of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus, commonly referred to as NCIP.

What stages does trademark registration include?

The procedure normally includes two main stages.

• Filing of the application and payment of filing and examination fees.
• Preliminary examination, usually within 2 months.
• Substantive examination, which normally starts 6 months after filing and takes about 3 to 4 months.
• Payment of the registration and certificate issuance fee after a positive decision.
• Entry in the Trademark Register and issuance of the certificate, usually within 1.5 to 2 months.
