In Belarus, license agreements for patents, trademarks and industrial designs must be recorded in the State Register to be legally effective.

Legal Effect of Recordal

If a licence agreement is not recorded, it is considered legally ineffective and may be treated as null in disputes.

Important: Non-recordal may lead to serious legal risks for both licensor and licensee.

Recordal takes approximately one month.

Cost: approximately 395 EUR.

Drafting or reviewing a licence agreement may cost from 180 to 250 EUR.

Important Notes

  • License must be re-registered after renewal of the underlying right
